The Kawasaki Z900 has a capable four-cylinder engine, but the factory ECU calibration also determines how much performance is available at each throttle opening. The BT Moto Stage 1+ ECU flash revises engine control to improve response and power delivery. This version includes the calibration and a handheld tuner for programming through the diagnostic connection.

The calibration is about more than a peak power figure. Predictable response also matters when accelerating through the midrange and changing throttle position. BT Moto coordinates several areas of ECU control to improve how the engine delivers its performance.

Stage 1+ upgrades

• Fueling revised for each gear, at full and partial throttle.
• Ignition timing optimized for each gear.
• Throttle restrictions addressed for a more consistent power curve at higher engine speeds.
• Lower cooling-fan activation temperature.
• Top-speed restriction removed and exhaust-valve control revised.
• A raised rev limit is available on request, according to BT Moto.

Dyno results

For a 2026 Z900, BT Moto reports 128 WHP / 75 WTQ stock and 137 WHP / 79 WTQ with Stage 1 on US-rated 93-octane fuel. These are rear-wheel measurements. Results depend on model year, specification, fuel and testing conditions.

BT Moto Handheld Tuner included

The included BT Moto Handheld Tuner reads and programs the ECU through the appropriate diagnostic connection. The original mapping can be saved and restored later. The tuner supports multiple maps and can read and clear ECU fault codes. Updated calibrations can be supplied remotely when the motorcycle configuration changes. Follow the instructions for your model and maintain a stable battery power supply during programming.
